MELANCHOLY SUMMER (Andy Spain)
Up and down the pavement
It was almost the greatest
With your green leaves turning
And my aversion to learning
Melancholy Summer,
Are you leaving me tonight?
You always said we'd be alright
With my heart in pieces
As the chill increases
Will you still remember
Anything in September?
Melancholy Summer,
Are you leaving me tonight?
You always said we'd be alright

RUNDOWN CARNIVAL OF LOVE (Andy Spain)
Women will chase you down
Like they're drunk out of their minds
Play all kinds of tricks on you
Till they make you call out their name
Once they win your heart
Somehow they don't want you no more
Just like a booby prize
Won in a carnival game
Can't be the lonely one
Sure you're not the only one
Everybody gets to take a ride
But no one's ever been satisfied
In the rundown carnival of love
Paper says it's gonna snow
So you dream of where you'd go
If you had a month or two
Just take off and catch a clue
Get that girl out of your thoughts
Commit deeds without getting caught
Take on a new identity
Just like the man you want to be
Inside your lonely dream
You can still feel the steam
Of the way she held your self-esteem
And no one's gonna care if you scream
In the rundown carnival of love
Back to the shooting gallery
Show yourself you ain't done yet
And you can't see her anyway
Where the broken sights are fixed
When you've blasted her from your mind
Go off and feed your baser needs
Just remember we're all decoys
Set up for Cupid's kicks
You just keep falling down
Like that old circus clown
And you can't even make a sound
And there ain't much laughter to be found
In the rundown carnival of love

Loner October

LONER OCTOBER (Andy Spain)
There's nothing quite as right
As a loner in October
The chilly wind reflective of
The coldness of his insides
And the leaves, dropping off of twisted branches
Are a tribute to his solitude
We dress thicker in fall and winter
Our extra vestments create a shield
His posture is his armor
So he is right at home
The long shadows of evening
Make it easy for him to hide
As he careens between them
Unnoticed
Everything's a little darker in October
Everything a little drier
A little grayer
A little more dead
A little more gone from this world
So he is right at home

Singer/songwriter/producer Andy Spain writes songs loaded with meaning and melody.
Blending
influences ranging from British psychedelic rock and American folk to electronic artists like Kraftwerk and Wendy Carlos, Spain’s songwriting is lyrically dense and musically surprising.
